About Me

Stephanie Allen grew up handling Jewellery in her family retail jewellery store in her hometown of Omagh, Co. Tyrone. At Drumragh Integrated College she showed great flare in Art and a strong technical mind in Technology and she was forever getting her jewellery confiscated at school.

At the age of 15, Stephanie’s Father sent her to Hatton Garden in London to train over the summer with a exclusive Diamond Mounter, a knowledgable mentor with over 60 years expertise in the trade. Creating bespoke luxury jewellery to order, no job was the same. Alongside her summers in London, Stephanie kept on with her education and enrolled in University College for the Creative Arts in Rochester Kent and achieved a BA (Hons) in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing and Jewellery Design. She was eager to get back to Hatton Garden after graduation and completed a full-time apprenticeship. “You learn more in 3 weeks in Hatton Garden than 3 Years of University.” Here she created many engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets and the occasional Tiara, sometimes for big designer brands and there was VIP customers galore.

Moving on to work for other British designer brands, Stephanie created beautiful luxury jewellery to their design ethos and worked on jewellery for big screen productions such as Disney’s Dumbo and Lara Croft Tomb Raider. Stephanie was one of the first women diamond mounters for a prestigious Bond Street Jeweller known for the most famous diamonds in the world. Here she worked with exclusive diamonds and gemstones to make rings and jewellery sold to the rich and famous all over the world. “It was such a wonderful opportunity to work with stones like those and to handmake such high quality jewellery, would be the dream of any Jeweller.”

After a not-so-average career of 17 years in London, perfecting the craft of Goldsmithing and Diamond Mounting, the pull for rural life was too strong and Stephanie left the big city of London to return home to Tyrone Northern Ireland. Her Mother and Father’s business Hazel Allen Jewellers was strong as ever and she quickly set up her own workshop because there was a warming welcome from locals wanting Bespoke Jewellery made just for them. She launched her Causeway Collection based on the north coast landmark the Giant’s Causeway as her homecoming debut, you can shop it here. <insert link to collections page>

Stephanie found great encouragement and advice from Omagh Enterprise on business matters and was rewarded with a rural development grant from DEARA and LAG to purchase a state of the art Laser Welder, and her business website to raise awareness of her skill. She utilised South West College Ideas Suite and their cutting edge technology to boost her possibilities to manufacture perfect jewellery. “To say the warmth and assistance of the people of Northern Ireland was rewarding, is an understatement. I feel the assistance to start-up my business and the demand for my work is my new backbone, and is the key to my future success.”

Stephanie still visits Hatton Garden to source gemstones and metal and to work with the community of craftspeople and traders because it is the epicentre of the jewellery trade where she felt her passion was fuelled. “I have great Thanks to give to EVERYONE I’ve worked with and huge gratitude for the clients that have trusted me to make jewellery for them. I am glad to make their vision a reality to treasure forever. Making my jewellery is a labour of love with dazzling results.”
